Kicked Up Super Bowl Recipes

Are you are hosting a Super Bowl party tomorrow? If so, then why not ditch the pizza for a something a little spicier. The following easy to prepare recipes are ideal for feeding large groups. Plus, since these dishes are such a cinch to make, you can enjoy the game with your guests instead of being stuck in the kitchen all evening.

KICKED UP BAKED BEANS

Ingredients:

4 cups dry navy beans

1 tablespoon salt

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons molasses

3 strips bacon (cut into small pieces)

1 chopped onion

2 tablespoons mustard

1/2 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce

Directions:

Wash and soak beans overnight.

Drain beans and add 1 cup of boiling water, plus the remaining ingredients.

Place ingredients in crock pot on medium heat until beans are tender 6 to 8 hours.

Serve as a side dish.

HOT AND SPICY MEXICAN BEEF

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 (5 to 6 pound) beef chuck roast or 2 to 3 smaller roasts

2 tablespoons garlic salt

3 teaspoons black pepper

3 (6 ounce cans) diced green chiles

3 cups chicken broth

1 yellow onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Season meat well with garlic salt and pepper.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large ovenproof pan. Brown beef for a few minutes on both sides. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover pan with foil.

Bake in the oven for 3 to 5 hours until meat falls apart. (You can also do this in a crock pot).

Remove beef with a slotted spoon. When cool enough to handle, shred beef thinly.

Strain and reserve cooking liquid for another use.

Serve beef in warm flour tortillas with your favorite taco fixings such as sour cream, salsa, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.
