CORN PLACEMATS
Materials:
Ears of corn
Knife
Plastic corncob holders
Paper plates
Fabric paints
Cloth placemats
Directions:
Break each ear of corn into 3-inch pieces (adults can use knife if necessary), then attach corncob holders firmly to the ends of each piece.
Roll the corn pieces in a few different shades of paint and then across the place mats. (You can practice rolling the paint on some paper or scrap fabric first to get an idea of how hard you need to press and how easily the paint will transfer).
Make designs and use any number of paint combinations as desired.
Heat set the paint to the placemats per the directions on the fabric paint you purchased.
Allow to cool, then decorate the table with your new placemats.
THANKFUL TREE
Materials:
Small flowerpots (you can buy these in bulk for less than $1 at most craft stores and large discount retailers)
Art sand
Small tree branches
Colored craft foam
Scissors
Permanent markers
Large ornament hangers or paper clips bent into hangers
Directions:
Fill flowerpot with sand and place tree branches in the sand.
Cut leaf shapes from colored craft foam.
Have each of your dinner guests use a permanent marker to write their name and the date on one side of a leaf and something that they are grateful for on the other side.
Insert an ornament hanger through the stem of each foam leaf and hang it on the tree branches.
Prior to eating your Thanksgiving feast have someone read all of the leaves out loud.
