Do you know those calendars that you can purchase complete with your own photos? I recently mentioned one in the Deals blog, a photo calendar that was on sale for only $14.99. while that is a good deal, why not get creative and have a calendar for free? Absolutely free.
Now, you might think that I am talking about making your own calendar using your own photos and creating the months by hand. While that method can certainly save you money, it is very messy and time consuming. It also costs you some money when you print out your photos. Remember, I said this idea was going to be absolutely free, right?
Instead, this is what I want you to do to create a one-of-a-kind personalized calendar that you can give as a gift, or just keep around for yourself. Well, actually, since this idea costs nothing, you can have all of the calendars you would like.
First, you’ll need to gather up that big pile of children’s artwork that you have inevitably collected so far. Maybe they are assignments and art from school, or maybe they are just scribbles from your little one at home. Whatever you have, go through the papers and pick out the best ones.
Next, pick up some free calendars from your local businesses. Good places to find these calendars include automotive shops, banks, real estate agencies, community centers, churches, air conditioning/heating shops, and really any sort of mom and pop business. We recently got one in the mail from a landscaping company.
Next, affix the artwork over the the printed calendar pictures. Use rubber cement for the best result. White school glue will leave the pictures lumpy.
Grandparents especially love this type of gift as do military personnel who are serving away from home. And, the kids are so happy and proud to see their artwork being turned into a gift.
