Kitchen Sink

The first house we bought when we moved to Texas had the most incredible kitchen. The whole house was beautiful but the kitchen sold it. The only thing that would have made the kitchen better is if it had had a double oven like the house we live in now has.

The kitchen in our last house was enormous. There were cupboards galore and all sorts of decorative shelves to show off pretty things. Having crystal vases sitting out unprotected on a shelf was odd for me because I was used to earthquakes. I loved the way it looked.

There was a wet bar in the far left with a swinging door that led right into the formal dining room. On the right side leading to the garage there was a built-in desk next to the laundry room. In the middle of the kitchen was an island with shelves and drawers. We kept the recycling bin and step stool in the space underneath. As you walked into the kitchen from the family room the breakfast table was on the right. To the right of the breakfast table was a beautiful large window seat. The cats and I loved to sit there.

It was odd that the sink did not fit in at all. It was plain white and the fixtures were not special. We found a dark sink that complemented the pattern of the Formica counters. I could look at the new sink and it made me happy.

I don’t normally think about the sink in our old house. In Sunday’s paper there’s a picture of a Texas-shaped sink. I have lust in my heart. There’s even a cutting board that fits it perfectly. There are other designer shapes available. I can see getting a martini glass sink for a wet bar.
