Thanksgiving is coming up soon. The Black Friday sales are starting to be revealed. These are signs that we are in the holiday season. Genealogists might want to grab this opportunity to take a genealogy class, or attend a genealogy workshop or event before things get too hectic. Here are a few that are coming up.
On November 12, 2012, the Galion Public Library, which is located in Galion, Ohio, will host a genealogy workshop. It is called “Digging Deeper: Up in Smoke”, and it will be presented by genealogist Peggy Lauritzen. Bring your ancestral research with you, and she will help you with it. The workshop is free to attend, but you will still need to register.
On November 13, 2012, the Herrick District Library, which is located in Holland, Michigan, will offer a genealogy program. The program is called “Genealogy Basics” and it will be presented in the Hazel B. Hayes auditorium of the library at 6:00 in the evening. It will be presented by genealogists Ann Prins. The event is free and open to the public.
On November 13, 2012, the Indian River Genealogical Society, which is located in Vero Beach, Florida, will have a presentation given by Ann Staley, who is back by popular demand. The presentation is called “FamilySearch Website Demystified”, and it will begin at 9:30 in the morning. Learn how to best use FamilySearch.
On November 13, 2012, MyHeritage will have a webinar. It is called “Genealogy 101: Everything you need to know about researching your family history. It will begin at 2:00 in the afternoon EST. MyHeritage US genealogy adviser Schelly Talalay Dardashti will present the webinar. There will be a question and answer session after the presentation is over.
On November 18, 2012, the Jewish Genealogical Society which is located in Middletown, Connecticut, will hold Part II of a Jewish Genealogy workshop. It is called “Finding Your Jewish Ancestors- Maximizing Your Success”. Reservations are required. Non members will need to pay for membership.
On November 20, 2012, the Genesee Area Genealogists, who are located in Genesee County, New York, will hold their final meeting of 2012. The meeting will take place at Richmond Memorial Library and will begin at 7:00 in the evening. James Lawson will present “Breaking Down Genealogy Walls”. Share your challenges, or “brick walls” and get some ideas about how to get around them.
