Last Minute Costume?

With Halloween less than a week away, if you haven’t got your kid’s costumes figured out you’re probably running around like a mad woman trying to decide what to do about it. As a single parent it’s hard to find time for much of anything these days and spending an insane amount of money on a costume that will be worn once just isn’t an option for most of us. So what’s a mom to do?

Take a deep breath. We’ve got you covered! Believe it or not you can make lots of great last minute costumes in the comfort of your own home and it won’t take you a zillion hours to do it either! Headbands are great for both girls and boys on Halloween. Simply add little ears on top and you’ve got a kitty, a dog, a bunny, or whatever else you can think of. One year I used it to make little bug antennas and just threw a couple of pompom balls on the ends.

If you’ve got an extra roll or two of toilet paper lying around it is easy to make a simple little mummy costume. The kids will have a grand old time just spinning around in the toilet paper. However, if you live somewhere that might expect snow this Halloween, you may want to choose another option unless you want to peel soggy toilet paper off your child all night long.

Balloons are super cheap and can make for a great costume as well. Blow up a dozen purple balloons and attach them all over your child’s body and you’ve got an adorable bundle of grapes! You could even add some green leaf cut outs and a green balloon for the head! Just keep a few extra balloons handy as they are prone to popping.

There are lots of cute options online for those of us that have fallen a little behind on the festivities this year. Check them out and see what you can find!
