Here are some quick and cute last minute costume ideas. For tiny tots, you can make a variety of costumes from footed pajama sleepers in solid colors, and for bigger kids, sweats or other shirts and pants (or tights with a long shirt) in the same color will work.
Check out some of these:
Pajama Sleeper Costumes
Dress your baby or little one in a snugly pajama sleeper in the appropriate color for the costume you want (if it’s really cold out, add another layer of clothing beneath it). For a puppy, choose white or brown or similar colors if available. Pick up a cheap headband and attach ears made of felt, or make ears from socks (see puppy or Dalmatian below). For a bunny, dress your little one in a white sleeper and add pink and white felt ears to a headband. Pin a ball of fiberfill to the back to make a cottontail. Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect, and a pink or purple bunny or a blue one will work fine. For a flower, choose a green sleeper and add felt petals to a headband.
*You can pick up ready to use headbands with ears and petals, for very little money. If you can’t find them, it’s easy to make your own.
Puppy or Dalmatian
Grab black, brown, or gray sweatpants and a hooded sweatshirt, and two pairs of matching socks. Pin socks to either side of the hood, and use the other two socks to cover your child’s hands (or pick up matching gloves for easier maneuvering). Add spots made from felt if desired, and put a little eyeliner on your child’s nose. For a Dalmatian, use white clothing with black socks and gloves and lots of black spots made from inexpensive felt. These can be glued on with fabric glue or pinned on so that you can use the sweats later.
