Turkey. Check. Mashed potatoes. Check. Green bean casserole. Check. Gravy. Check. Dessert… hmmmm… You’ve got a traditional pumpkin pie, but you want to add something a little more to your Thanksgiving buffet this year, but time is not on your side. What do you do?

Check out these simple yet fabulous Turkey Day desserts that can be whipped up in jiffy:

SIMPLE APPLE DUMPLINGS

Ingredients:

2 Granny Smith apples

2 cans crescent rolls

2 sticks butter

1 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

Cinnamon

1 mini can of Sprite

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Peel and core apples.

Cut apples into 8 slices each.

Sprinkle a little cinnamon over apples.

Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll, and then place them in a 9 by 13-inch buttered pan.

Melt butter, and then add both sugars and stir. Add vanilla, stir and then pour mixture over apples. Pour soda around the edges and middle of pan. Sprinkle a little more cinnamon on top and bake for 35 minutes or until tops are golden brown.

Serve warm with ice cream and spoon some of the sauce from the pan over the top of each serving.

CHOCOLATE TURKEY CUPCAKES

Ingredients:

1 box chocolate cake mix (bake as cupcakes, according to package directions)

1 can chocolate frosting

Oval-shaped cookies (Keebler Sandies Shortbread cookies or Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookies)

Candy corn

1 tube white decorating frosting

1 tube black cake decorating gel

Strawberry Fruit Roll Up

Directions:

Bake and frost cupcakes.

Place one cookie down flat in the center of the cupcake to make the head and press one cookie on an angle sticking out vertically on each side for the wings.

Use the candy corn to form tail feathers. Press the candy in a row at the top of the cupcake behind the head.

Make the turkey’s eye by adding a small dot of white icing to the head, then add a dot of gel for a pupil.

Make the turkey’s beak by cutting the white tip from a piece of candy corn and pressing it in place.

To make the wattle, cut a 1-inch square of Fruit Roll Up. Roll it into a tube and stick it in place over the beak.

Place edible turkeys on dessert buffet and watch your guests gobble them up.
