We’re halfway through Valentine’s Day and if you haven’t already presented your sweetie with a gift from the heart don’t fret. You still have time to impress him or her and keep yourself out of the dog house.
Check out these easy and affordable ideas for making tonight a special one for your true love:
Decorations: Grab a few wire hangers from the closet and bend them into heart shapes. Cover the wire with red or pink ribbon and glue the ends together. If you have time and money, you could embellish the heart with silk flowers. Otherwise, just place the hearts on a table with some votive candles in the middle.
Flowers: If you can’t afford fresh roses, then opt for inexpensive alternatives, such as Gerbera Daisies, tulips or carnations. If you are really in a pinch and you don’t have the cash to spring for real flowers, then makes some lollipop blossoms. Just place a flat lollipop on plain card stock or an index card and draw a heart around it with a marker or crayon. Next, remove the candy and use the template to trace and cut-out a dozen or more heart-shaped flowers from red construction paper. Add some green construction paper leaves. Then, decorate one side of the heart with your loved one’s name before taping the lollipop on the other side of the card. Once you’ve made a bouquet of lollipop flowers, place them in a small glass or tie them with a ribbon and gift them to your sweetheart.
Dinner: If you are working against the clock, then keep dinner simple, yet delicious. You might consider sticking with a Valentine’s Day red theme by making a strawberry salad, pasta with red sauce and this super simple chocolate dessert that you can top with fresh raspberries.
