Law Firm Says Women Drive Better Than Men Do

venus symbol A law firm in Arizona has put together an interesting “infographic”. It answers the question that many people have wondered about. Do men really drive better than women do, or is it the other way around? You might think you know the answer to this question. Are you right?

Who is a safer, and better, driver? Auto insurance companies believe they know the answer to that question. In many states, a car insurance company will include a person’s gender in the information they use in order to determine what they want to charge that person on his or her car insurance premium.

Not all states allow this. However, the states that do allow gender to be considered as a factor that determines the cost of premiums have all decided that women drive better than men. This is one of the reasons why they charge men more for their car insurance premiums than they will charge a woman who is in the same age bracket.

If you would like a second opinion, there is a handy “infographic” that gives some interesting statistics and background information about why women are perceived to be better drivers than men by all those insurance companies. The graphic is colorful, cartoon-like, and filled with relevant information.

The “infographic” was created by the people at the Breyer Law Offices. They are located in Arizona, and are a husband and wife team. The story is that the husband and the wife were having a “friendly debate” about whether men drive better than women do, or if it was really the other way around. This inspired Alexis Breyer to do some research about which was actually true, (presumably so she could win the argument with her husband, Mark Breyer). I guess this is what lawyers do for fun.

So, which gender “rules the road”? In reality, women are statistically better, and safer, drivers than men are. A quick read over the information that appears on the graphic shows why. It also explains why so many auto insurance companies charge men more money for car insurance premiums. In 2010, men were charged an average of $765 more for a six-month auto insurance policy.

According to the “infographic”, more than 4 times as many men were arrested for driving under the influence than women were. Men also have a 77% higher risk of dying in a car accident than women do. Men are also issued more tickets for traffic violations than women are. Check out the graphic for all the details. Perhaps you can use it to win the “Who is the better driver” debate that is going on in your office.
