LDS Family Week in Review: June 24-30

Thanks for sticking with us for another great week in the LDS Families blog. We covered topics ranging from genealogy to baby blues to working through marriage struggles this week, and we’re glad you could join us for them. In case you missed anything, here is the week in review.

Gospel Doctrine: In Whosoever Killeth You…, we discussed the various modern day apostles who gave their life for their faith. In The Mission of the Holy Ghost, we discussed the various roles of the Spirit. In Sorrow Turned to Joy, we discussed both the sadness and the joy of the atonement of Christ. And in What is Eternal Life?, we reviewed the definition of life eternal.

The Rest of the Week

Monday, June 25th: In Courthouse Genealogy, we examined a little of the nuts and bolts of researching your family’s vital statistics. In Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 23, we reviewed what your family learned in church last week. In Unconventional Methods of Service, we talked about some different methods of rendering service. And in General Conference: “Salt Lake Tabernacle Rededication,” we reviewed the history of the third building constructed for worship in early church history.

Tuesday, June 26th: In Children and Work, we talked about developing a strong work effort in our kids. In Sisters With Baby Blues, we considered various ways to help the sisters around us who struggle with postpartum emotional issues. In Giving to the Needy, we discussed ways to help struggling families improve their chances at employment. In Primary Time: Helping the Seriously Ill Child and Family, we talked about showing love and support to sick kids from Primary. And in Relief Society: Making Time for You, we discussed five ways to meet our own personal needs, which keep things running smoothly.

Wednesday, June 27th: In Are You Unable to Fast?, we looked at how we can still grow spiritually when we are physically not able to fast. In The Martyrdom of Joseph Smith, we reviewed the tragic events of June 27, 1844. In Visiting Teaching Message: Becoming Holy, we examined the July visiting teaching message and what, exactly, holiness means. In The Examples In Your Ward, we were inspired by families who “live the gospel like the mean it.” And in Young Women: Integrity, we examined the value of integrity.

Thursday, June 28th: In Are You Still Working On Your Goals?, we discussed making a mid-year goal adjustment. In Ten Signs Your Youth is Off to EFY, we took a humorous look at some signs that your local Especially For Youth program is about to begin. In Visiting Teaching Message: Practicing Holiness, we reviewed the connection between holiness and covenants. In Young Men: Video Game Party, we talked about a modernized Young Men activity sure to hold the boys’ interest! And in Do You Have More Than One Calling?, we discussed some things to consider as we think about asking someone to fill multiple callings.

Friday, June 29th: In General Conferences From the Past: The Importance of Prayer, we reviewed a 1974 talk by President Tanner on the pattern of prayer. In Home Teaching Message: Hidden Wedges, we considered the need for forgiveness in our life. In Are You Spiritually Prepared?, we were reminded to be more than temporally prepared. And in Work On Your Marriage, we talked about the fact that marriage is not an easy ride, but one that takes time, commitment, and effort.
