We had another great week in the LDS Families blog. We took a look at our Gospel Doctrine lesson and expanded our horizons a bit.
Gospel Doctrine: This week’s Sunday School lesson is entitled “Thy Faith Hath Saved Thee.” It covered a variety of ways that people expressed their faith in the Lord and were spiritually saved because of it. In Cry Day and Night, we discussed how prayer affects us. In Men Ought Always to Pray, we talked about how to pray without fainting. In They…Rebuked Him, we talked about how other people might affect our relationship with God (or might try to). And in Climb the Tree!, we discussed how we can make the extra effort to keep the Savior in our sites.
Monday, May 21st: In Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 18, we talked about ways to integrate our Sunday School lesson into our family dinners. In Marriage Fights, we kicked off a two week series on the top four sources of contention in marriages in America. And in Five Tips on Fasting, we looked at five ways to get more out of your fast.
Tuesday, May 22nd: In General Conference: The Spirit of the Tabernacle, we reviewed President Faust’s talk about the various spiritual events that took place in the Salt Lake City Tabernacle. In Marriage Fights: Money, we talked about how financial issues can cause tension in our marriages. In Primary Time: Helping Those With Special Needs, we discussed how to make sure that children with special needs love and enjoy Primary. And in Relief Society: Five Ideas for Preparedness Enrichment Activities, we listed some fantastically wonderful suggestions for teaching sisters in Relief Society to be prepared.
Wednesday, May 23rd: In My Moment of Self-Reflection, Miriam shared some thoughts and feelings she has been struggling with, and how taking some time to sit and reflect have helped her. In Marriage Fights: Religion, we discussed how putting the gospel into practice affects our relationship with our spouse. In My Memories of the Tabernacle, Miriam shared her thoughts and feelings about growing up near the tabernacle. And in Teaching Your Children About the Temple, we looked at some ways to teach our kids to love the temple.
Thursday, May 24th: In Young Women: Individual Worth, we talked about the third value in the Personal Progress. In Top 10 Ways to Tell You Have a Perfect Marriage, we took a humorous look at how to tell you and your spouse have a marriage made in Heaven. In Guarding Your Children Against Negative Media Influences, we talked about how to protect our children from inappropriate things in the entertainment industry. In Young Men: Church Ball, we talked about ways to keep basketball at church an enjoyable experience. And in Three Month Supply, we discussed getting a small food storage ready.
Friday, May 25th: In General Conference From the Past: Enriching Your Marriage, we reviewed Elder Faust’s talk about how to improve and uplift our marriages. In Helping the Homebound, we discussed how to help those in our ward who cannot attend church still feel the Spirit in their lives. And in Finding Energy While Following the Word of Wisdom, we talked about ways to increase our energy without breaking the Word of Wisdom.
Saturday, May 26th: In Making the Most of Your Saturdays, we reviewed some ways that Latter-day Saints can have a “weekend” while keeping the Sabbath day holy.
