We’ve had a lot going on in LDS this week. If you weren’t able to join us, you can catch up by reading this summary and following the links.
We began the week, as was fitting, by talking about President Hinckley. Tristi blogged about a website where you can go and sign up to participate in a Book of Mormon reading tribute to President Hinckley. At last count, over 28,000 people have chosen to commemorate the passing of that dear man by studying the scriptures as he asked us to do.
Miriam then told us of the selection of Thomas S. Monson to lead the Church, and the choosing of Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F. Uchtdorf as counselors.
“Dinner Discussions” kept us up to speed on where we all should be with our lessons, and the “First Presidency Message” and the “Visiting Teaching Message” helped prepare us for our Home Teaching and Visiting Teaching assignments.
The Gospel Doctrine lesson focused on Nephi’s dream, entitled “The Things I Saw While I Was Carried Away in the Spirit,” and the Latter-day Hymns series continued with “High On a Mountain Top.”
In “What’s the Big Deal about Caffeine?” Tristi addressed the struggle many members of the Church have when it comes to deciding whether or not to drink caffeinated drinks. In “Cumbered About,” she looked deeper into the story of Mary and Martha, and pondered on the tendency we sometimes have to overdo when we are entertaining.
Miriam introduced us to the February Sharing Time Theme, which is about how the scriptures bring us closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus, and she also presented the February Preparedness Goals so we can continue to work toward our eventual goal, one step at a time.
We read more about Nephi’s vision in our Scripture Study, and we thought about the importance of “Listening with Our Hearts” when we are being taught. We also delved a little deeper into the First Commandment, which tells us that we must have no other Gods before our Heavenly Father.
We participated in another Scripture Study, and we ended the week on a high note with Miriam’s blog about “Your Family Responsibility.”
We hope you enjoyed the blogs here in LDS this week, and we’d love to see you again.
