LDS Week in Review: October 29th – November 3rd

What’s been going on in LDS this week? If you didn’t have a chance to read regularly, here’s your opportunity to catch up.

In “Strengthen the Family,” Miriam mentions the impact General Conference had on her view of motherhood and the need to spend more quality time with her family. Five conference talks were focused on strengthening the family, indicating how very important it is.

Tristi continues to discuss the Sunday School class she is taking on family history work in “Sunday School: Temple and Family History Work, Temple Ordinances for the Dead.” We learn about the ordinances that are available to our kindred dead and how to prepare to administrate in this capacity.

Miriam’s blog “Forgiveness and Marriage” emphasizes the need for all of us to practice forgiveness in marriage, our most important earthly relationship. As we seek to overlook the small imperfections of our spouses and to concentrate on the good qualities they have, we’ll have more peace in our homes.

Tristi then reviews the new LDS film “Turn Around,” a modernized version of the story of Alma the Younger. While most of the acting was stiff and wooden, a credible job was done by Jordan Sorenson, the star.

Miriam’s “Family Home Evening Solutions” provides suggestions for parents who struggle with toddlers, young children, and teenagers who might not want to attend family home evening.

In “Surviving the Holidays,” Miriam shares the importance of keeping up your spiritual routine even when life becomes hectic while preparing for the upcoming holiday season. She includes suggestions like scaling back on gift giving, taking it easy when it comes to holiday parties, and remembering to take care of ourselves physically during this stressful and busy time of year.

We hope you’ll be able to join us here in LDS throughout the next week. See you soon!
