You’ve likely seen the advertisements for Leap Frog products on television. What you may not know is that Leap Frog also offers a set of educational videos, designed to help your preschooler or young Elementary School-aged child learn the basics in phonics and math.
If you’re the parent of a preschooler or a child who is just learning their letters and sounds, you’ll want to check out the Leap Frog “Letter Factory” video. It combines a story with education, in a format that’s easy to digest, ear catching, and enjoyable. When my son watched this video, he was able to tell me letters and their sounds within days. It worked that well. The reason? It incorporates song into letter learning. For instance, with the letter “e,” the viewer is taken into a room where someone is speaking. One person cannot hear the conversation and repeatedly says, “Eh?” This learning of the letter sound is followed with the tune,
“The ‘e’ says eh,
The ‘e’ says eh,
Every letter makes a sound,
The ‘e’ says eh.
Subsequent letters follow the same pattern. The catchy tune of the song, combined with the individual letter vignettes (which are creative and colorfully visual), makes the learning process relatively simple. Even my two-year-old sings along and learns from this video.
If you’ve never seen the Leap Frog “Letter Factory Video,” I urge you to run, not walk, to your nearest store and pick it up.
Leap Frog also offers additional videos to help your child learn to read, as well as math-based videos. With math and phonics being such crucial steps to a child’s success in school, why not consider picking up these delightful videos. Your kids will enjoy them and won’t even realize they’re watching something educational.
