The Leap Frog Learning Drum introduces your infant to musical sounds, rhythm, counting, and ABCs. With four different settings to choose from, your child will have hours of entertainment with this drum.
When you turn on ABC mode, a voice says, “Hi, let’s play the drum. A-B-C! It’s fun!” As your child hits the drum, a letter appears on the top as a voice says the letter. It runs through the alphabet from A to Z with some semblance of “La Cucaracha” in the background.
With the 123 mode, a voice says, “Hi, let’s play the drum. A 1-2-3!” When your child taps the drum, a number appears on the top as a voice says the number. The numbers go from one through ten (1-10). Whenever there is a pause in the tapping, a lively march plays.
On the drum mode, denoted by a picture of a drum, a voice instructs how to play the drum. When your child hits the drum, it makes the tapping sound of a drum. Every time your child hits the drum and then pauses, a voice reinforces your child.
On the music mode, denoted by a picture of music notes, a voice says, “Let’s sing and play!” You then hear, “Play the drum everyone, play the drum.” In this mode, when your child hits the drum musical tones are heard.
There is also a star on the front of the drum. When your child presses it, it plays one of three different tunes. On the front of the drum is also a volume control button.
No matter which mode your child chooses, there is always music and fun. Whenever there is a lull in the activity, the drum plays music or you hear children singing. In addition to ABCs and counting, your child will inadvertently be learning the concept of cause-and-effect.
The recommended age for the Learning Drum is 6 months and up.
