I have always had a fascination with foreign languages, and have always been absolutely horrible with them.
It seems like more and more things today are written in both Spanish and English. A few months ago I can remember trying to purchase some food item only to find that the label was in only Spanish. What was in this item? Was I allergic? I had no idea, because I don’t understand Spanish.
I can’t carry around a computer with me all the time, but for times when I have a “What does that Spanish word mean” moment while I’m around my PC there is the Spanish-English online dictionary. This website will allow you to type any word you want in English, or Spanish for that matter and get the translation instantly.
This isn’t the fanciest of sites, there is just a box to type the English word or the Spanish word and then a button for the computer to translate it. When you’re in a pinch though it can be a pretty easy fix.
One great feature of this online Spanish dictionary is that the dictionary will not only tell you what the Spanish word is, it will pronounce it for you as well. You can listen to an audio file of the word and figure out how to say it the next time it comes up.
Spanish speakers will appreciate the ability to also listen to the English translation. If you’re working on learning a foreign language then hearing the word over and over again can certainly help drive the correct pronunciation home. I really enjoy that on this site you can do it word by word at your own pace, so it can make learning a new language a little easier.
