I’m always looking for all natural ways to clean my house. The fact that those natural products are usually cheaper than anything store bought is an added bonus. Most everyone knows about baking soda and vinegar, they seem to be the staples of the green cleaning movement. What about lemons? Lemons are all natural, cheap and they smell good too!
There are lots of things lemons can be used to clean like the bottom of your copper pots and pans. When we first get those pans they are so shiny and pretty but before too long they turn black and dingy. If you sprinkle the bottom of your pan with salt and scrub with a cut lemon it will shine like new. Making your pans pretty isn’t the only reason to do this, copper bottom pans need to have clean bottoms to heat evenly.
Your kitchen sink can also be scrubbed with a paste of lemon juice and salt. It will clean up beautifully and the whole kitchen will smell lemony. Also hard water stains on glass can be removed with a lemon. Try it and see how your windows or even your car windshield will sparkle.
If you have a lot of stained Tupperware or other hard plastic lemon juice is perfect. I spray the container down, pop on the lid, let it sit overnight and in the morning spray some more lemon juice and scrub with baking soda. This not only removes the stains but helps to get rid of any odors the plastic is holding on to as well. Just don’t do this with thinner plastic, the lemon juice can erode it.
Lemon juice is also good for bleaching white clothes. Just dip the dingy white article in lemon juice and dry them in the sun. Of course you will need to wash them afterwards but they will now be nice and white once again. Lemon juice and baking soda will also remove rust stains from clothing.
There are so many ways to clean with things you already have at home so the next time you want to clean something and are out of cleanser, just Google it. You will find a way to clean with items you already have in your home.
