If money is tight, but you still want to make May 9th a special day for your mom, wife, or aunt, then consider skipping the expensive fresh flower bouquets and crafting these simple floral projects that will let love bloom without breaking the bank this Mother’s Day:
PHOTO FLOWERS
Materials:
Cardboard
Glue
Scissors
Crayons, markers, paint
Glitter glue, stickers, sequins or other embellishments
Photo of child and mother
Directions:
Have child draw a large flower on a piece of cardboard.
Cut out the flower.
Have child decorate flower with paint, crayon or markers.
Embellish flower with glitter glue, sequins, stickers, etc.
Paste child’s picture in the center of the flower.
Tip: Make enough to give mom an entire bouquet of photo flowers.
PAINTED VASES
Materials:
Clean, empty jar
Acrylic or liquid tempera paints
Paintbrushes or cotton swabs
Craft glue
Clear glaze
Directions:
Mix the paints with some glue. You want to keep the paint thick, so it won’t run.
Use brushes or cotton swabs to paint a design on the jar. Think of a design your mom will like or draw items that she enjoys looking at.
Let the paint dry, then seal the finished design with a coat of glaze.
Insert real flowers or photo flowers in vase before presenting to mom on Mother’s Day.

Materials:
Construction paper (use mom’s favorite colors)
Glue
Paint
Paint Brush
Pencil
Markers
Photos of Children
Potted Plant
Scissors
Directions:
Paint flowerpot and allow to dry thoroughly.
Draw flowers on the construction paper with large centers. Try to do at least six.
Cut out the flowers and paste photos of children in the center of each flower.
Glue the flowers on the outside of the pot.
Draw stems and leaves with the markers on the pot. You could also write “Happy Mother’s Day,” “I love you Mom!” or “Mom, we bloom under your care and love.”
