Let the Animals Decorate for Christmas

Want a whimsical Christmas decorating idea that comes straight from the wonderful world of Disney? Here is a cute idea that you’ll want to try over and over again.

Have you seen the movie Enchanted, yet? With all of the previews, movie clips and interviews, I feel as though I have already seen the movie, even without actually going to the theater. One of the prevailing themes in the movie a play on the traditional Disney films with all of the helpful happy woodland creatures that are available to assist the Disney princesses. And then there are the holiday movies, such as Rudolph the red Nosed Reindeer, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town, two movies where those very busy animals decorate Christmas trees. Wouldn’t it be nice, I thought, if we all had our own little creatures to help us decorate for the holidays?

With this design idea, you can make it seem as through you have those cuddly and cute creatures helping you out.

Hang some pretty realistic-looking doves to the ceiling near the Christmas tree. Add strings of beads in their mouths or feet to make it look as if they are decorating the tree. You can have one or two of the doves carrying ornaments. The easiest way to achieve this is to attach the doves to the ceiling using fishing line or white cotton thread tied to the bird and then attached to the ceiling with a pushpin. The beads and ornaments can be attached to the birds with straight pins.

Other, non-flying creatures can be poised both under the tree and on the tree, depending on their sizes. Make sure that each one has an ornament, a string of beads or a garland to add to the tree. Squirrels with gilded acorns or nuts are a cute idea, but you can use whatever you might have available.

The animals can be found in decorator shops, at dollar and discount stores and on Ebay.
