Let’s Burn Some Extra Calories Today

Want to burn an extra 100 calories today? I look at burning some extra calories the way I look at catching a few extra minutes of sleep – it’s nice to be able to do it especially if it fits into the day and improves it. The great thing about the following list of things you can do to burn some extra calories is they are all a way to relax as well as burn calories. How often do you hear let’s have fun and burn a few calories at the same time?

Not a lot? That’s okay, we’re going to change that here. Here are some fast, fun ways to burn an extra 100 calories today:

  • Head outside to play with the kids, whether it’s a twenty minute game of catch with a ball or Frisbee, head outside with your kids this evening and burn some extra calories off while you enjoy some quality time with the family
  • Take the dog for a walk or put your baby in a stroller for a stroll around the block – babies love to get outside and it can be a great way to break up the day and combine the mental break with a physical boost
  • Wanna go bowling? If I had a bowling alley closer to me, you could sign me right up for this one. Just one good round of bowling burns over a 100 calories
  • Catch up on your email – did you know that 1 hour of typing burns a 100 calories – no it’s not going to tone up your body, but that’s another 100 off the day’s totals
  • Get those weeds – head out to the garden and spend some time weeding, 20 minutes later you’ll have burned off another 100 calories
  • Not on water restrictions? Give your car a good bath. A thorough scrubbing down of the car can burn 100 calories or more and spraying each other with water – that’s priceless
  • Skip the elevator and the escalator, take the stairs – 20 minutes of stair walking – even spread out over the day can burn another 100 calories

If you do all of the above – that’s 700 extra calories off the top of any other workout or nutrition plan you’re on. So tell me – how are you going to burn your extra 100 today?
