Pregnant women have been known to dream of delivery and impending motherhood throughout the three trimesters, and dreams have the tendency to be quite vivid.

Do dreams really mean anything?
Dreams of miscarrying (thread)
Try interpreting your dreams with the help of a dream dictionary. Perhaps journaling your dreams will allow you unique insight to your baby-to-be. Interpreting a dream about pregnancy or childbirth when you are already aware of the pregnancy doesn’t take a lot of deciphering. Most of the things in the dream tend to have more obvious, rather than symbolic, meanings. Getting down your thoughts in a journal, be they lucid or of the dream state, can be therapeutic and help you understand your feelings or misgivings about the process that you are going through. Allow me to interpret one of my own dreams as an example:
Dream #1:
About two weeks before my period was even due, I dreamt that I very calmly and easily, at home in the water, delivered a healthy baby boy. I was alone, and delivered the baby much to my own surprise, since I wasn’t even aware of being pregnant. This was by no means the first time I’ve dreamt about giving birth, or having more than one child when I only had one at the time. I dream about that from time to time and I even have dreams that I give birth to something other than a human (an animal or even unknown being) so this particular dream is not even that odd compared to some of the others. But there was something to this particular dream, and after waking I felt there was some significance to it. In the dream, the child grew fast. By the time I left the room that I labored in to show his father and sister, he was already moving and looking around like a 5 month old would. I felt a certain reluctance to tell my good friend, whom just had a miscarriage. But even in the dream, her personality showed and she was quick to welcome the baby despite her loss.
My Interpretation:
Using what I know about my life at the time of the dream, as well as what I know about dreams, I started to get the distinct feeling that this dream had special meaning and was actually premonitory. This means that the dream may have been trying to tell me something, and if I were to look at other things in my life a little closer, I may see that it was more than a mere dream. Indeed, after closer inspection on some other small changes I recently made to my diet and lifestyle, I realized that all signs were pointing to pregnancy. I seemed to be subconsciously aware of the need to alter my diet and abstain from alcohol. It wasn’t two weeks later that I missed a period and took a test, which revealed what I already knew to be true: I was pregnant! Then I had the undesirable task of telling my friend about the pregnancy. Just as in the dream, she was happy for me and if upset, did not show it.
As you may realize from my example or from visiting the links I provided above, dreams don’t always carry specific, obvious meaning or hold bad omens. They don’t always divulge truths or provide unique insight. But dreams have purpose in that they help process subconscious thoughts or allow the dreamer’s psyche respite from the previous day. And what pregnant mind doesn’t need that?
