Lisa Marie Presley Peeved About Pregnancy Report

Oh, Elvis’ daughter is pregnant all right, only she didn’t want any of us to know it.

Apparently, the King’s daughter wanted her bun in the oven to stay under wraps. However, thanks to several media outlets (hmm… how should I put this…) less than kind remarks about Lisa Marie’s expanding waistline (London’s “The Daily Mail” ran a pic of Lisa Marie and her mom Priscilla eating lunch in Los Angeles with the caption: “Like father like daughter? Bloated Lisa Marie is now the double of dad Elvis”) the 40-year-old singer says she was forced to announce her pregnancy.

“After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant,” Lisa Marie wrote on her MySpace page.

As I mentioned in a previous blog Presley and her husband, music producer Michael Lockwood, are expecting a baby next fall. It will be the third child for Michael Jackson’s former wife, who has two children from her marriage to ex-husband Danny Keough.

Given that she was in fact married to Prince of Weirdness (I mean Jackson) you’d think Presley would be immune to taunts by the press. But remarks by newspaper reporters including: “Lisa Marie is gonna die like her father” and “Lisa Marie and her mom are in a fight because of her weight” reportedly caused Presley to seethe and prompted her to set the record straight about her weight gain.

“You KNOW if you were pregnant and you felt you were expanding uncontrollably by the moment as a result, and the worldwide media started badgering and harassing you for it, plastering you everywhere in an unflattering light, you would be mortified as well,” Presley wrote.

Frankly, I’m not surprised the media tore into her. I’m not saying it was right to do so, but I’m not shocked at all. Apparently, for some tabloid reporters being the 40-year-old child of a famous singer who loved peanut butter and mayonnaise and the mother of two teens means any weight you gain is fat and not that of a precious unborn baby.
