Little Things Mean A Lot

Sometimes it’s the little things that can make your house seem much dirtier than it is. There are things we all tend to overlook as we are rushing to get the house clean along with all the other things we have to do every day. I have found that when I make a list of those little things and do them the house seems cleaner and brighter. Here are a few of the things I’ve found that seem to make a difference in the appearance of my house, even though I don’t really notice when they are not done:

• Wiping off fingerprints on doors, light switches and door frames. It’s amazing how dirty these get, and how often I over look them!

• Getting rid of dead leaves on houseplants.

• Making the beds- yes I know you are going to get right back in it tonight, but it makes the whole room look better.

• Dusting the television screen.

• Shaking the rugs in the kitchen and bathrooms out- this makes them fluffier too.

• Wiping the fingerprints off the kitchen cabinets- I avoid cleaning my cabinets at all costs, this does make them look so much better though.

• Emptying the trash in the bathrooms.

• Dusting baseboards- it’s a thankless job but it’s really yucky to try to paint them if they haven’t been dusted in years.

• Dust your light bulbs. Crazy, I know, but it will make them brighter, and while you are there you can dab your favorite fragrance or essential oil on them to make the house smell nice when you turn them on.

These few little things really seem to make a difference in the appearance of my home, they are also the things I always thing I’ll do next time I clean, except I never do. Try it, see if it makes a difference or if I’m just a little crazy from smelling all those vinegar and baking soda fumes.
