I read many reviews of the Little Tike’s piano with a microphone before I bought it. I read that the microphone breaks pretty quickly, and I thought, “Oh those poor parents that can’t control their kids”. That won’t happen in my house.
My three year old received a Little Tike piano for Christmas, compliments of dear ol’ Santa, and she loved it. She immediately made the work crew get together to put it together, and after we figured out how it works without it falling over, she sat down to play her first concerto.
I’d say it was about an hour later, which is about twenty minutes of actually playing with it, that that darn microphone snapped right off. We did what any reasonable parent would do and duck-taped it right back on. That’s didn’t work either, and so we were left with one very cute piano with half of a broken microphone stand sticking out of it.
Fortunately, the microphone stand comes right off, so now we are left with one very cute piano. She still loves it, and although it was upsetting to have to eat my words, it’s probably much more peaceful not having to listen to the “ABC” song in stereo. Nonetheless, I still think Little Tike’s needs to figure out a way to keep the microphone from breaking.
I do have to say this, as well. There is an option on the piano to have the piano play itself and the songs that come out of it are super cute and easy to dance to. When she feels like playing it, she can, and when she feels like listening to it, she can. It was a good investment, even without the microphone!
