Lohan Matriarch Following In Daughter’s Footsteps

Lights. Camera. Run.

If you are not a fan of Hollywood stage mothers looking to make it as big as their celebrity offspring then, run, don’t walk away from your TV sets when the E! reality series starring Dina Lohan debuts early next year.

Dina Lohan–mother to fresh from rehab star Lindsay-—is getting powdered, prepped and polished for her big TV debut. Filming for her new reality series begins Tuesday. According to show producers, the first shoots for the yet untitled show, which will also star Lindsay’s little singer-actress sister Ali, will be done in New York City and on Long Island.

And lest you were under the impression that the Lohan matriarch decided to allow cameras to document her every move because she wanted to share the limelight with her famous daughter, think again. According to Dina, she’s doing the show as a service to other single mothers.

“It’s about empowering women to be successful single mothers,” Lohan told reporters. “It’s about being in the limelight without compromising motherhood. It’s about what I do, how you can be successful, and be a single mom and fulfilling your kids’ dreams. Working is my sole source of income.”

How noble of her to star in her own TV show to benefit other single moms.

By the way, the other reason Lohan says she agreed to do the show is because the medium allows her to set the record straight on the type of person she is.

“There are so many misconceptions about me and my family,” Dina told PEOPLE magazine in a recent interview.

In an effort to let the “real” Dina shine through, Lohan is also serving as the show’s executive producer. She says by taking on the role she is better able to shape what viewers see.

“It won’t just be following my family around like other shows,” Lohan added. “It’ll show me cultivating careers, going to soccer practice. I’m a big supporter of domestic violence charities, so they’ll show that. Then they’ll show [my son] Cody at soccer practice, Ali going to school and in the studio. It’ll encompass everything. You’ll see me having five business meetings in the city.”

And what of Lohan’s other daughter who is the sole reason she was even offered the show?

“Lindsay is a family member and will lend a helping hand if Ali asks her, when she’s in the recording studio,” Dina said.

I’m no ratings expert, but I have a feeling viewers will be seeing a lot more of Lindsay if the numbers don’t pan out the way mommy dearest wants them to.
