Losing the Baby Weight

Today, I went back to the gym the first time after the baby. He is almost 6 months old. I realized I had a lot of work ahead of me when we went on a very easy hike a couple of weekends ago and I was sore after. So, I decided it was time to get back to work.

Unfortunately, between nursing (I’m not one of those people that nurses and the “weight just falls off”) and being on a very restricted diet the past few months, getting back in shape was not a priority. Now that I have enjoyed eating anything I want the last 2 weeks, I think I’m ready to get back in shape!

But, where do you start? I think you have to start with baby steps. If getting into a routine of going to the gym each day is what you need, then just concentrate on making that a habit. Then, when it is a habit, think about what you are actually doing at the gym and how you can make your work outs more effective.

Another thing that has really helped me is a website called sparkpeople.com. It is a free website to help you reach your goals of getting in shape and losing weight. You track your food and learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. But, recently, they have added another website to their family called www.babyfit.sparkpeople.com. I am still exploring this website, but am impressed by how it is geared to moms that are pregnant or have recently given birth, and it is all about helping moms to lose the weight and get in shape. This website comes with all the great features of the original and even more! You can customize your eating plan to help you eat right while pregnant, nursing, or not nursing. No matter what, there is an option for you!!

I’m looking forward to starting on this journey and making it happen. I’ve been successful in the past, and hope to be successful again!
