Actor Macaulay Culkin of “Home Alone” fame is grieving the loss of his sister today.
According to reports, Dakota Culkin was struck and killed by a car in Los Angeles on Tuesday and died from her injuries yesterday.
Police say the 29-year-old stepped off a sidewalk in West L.A. just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday and was struck by a car. Authorities say Dakota was rushed to UCLA hospital with massive head trauma and died the following day.
A LAPD spokesman confirmed that the driver of the car did stop to render aid after striking the actor’s sister. The spokesman goes on to say that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and that no crime was committed. Police are classifying the incident as a “tragic accident,”
Dakota was one of seven Culkin children. Other siblings include Shane, 32, Kieran, 26, Quinn, 24, Christian, 21, and Rory, 19.
Still reeling from her tragic loss is singer Jennifer Hudson.
The former “American Idol” star recently confirmed that she is getting back to work. According to reports, the Grammy-nominated singer turned actress is scheduled to begin filming a video for the single “If It Isn’t Love” next week.
It’s been nearly two months since three of her family members were fatally shot in Chicago. According to Hudson’s rep, the 27-year-old was on her way to Los Angeles in October when she learned that her 57-year-old mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson and 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson had been killed. Three days later her 7-year-old nephew Julian King was also found with fatal gunshot wounds.
Currently, William Balfour, Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, who is still legally married to Hudson’s sister Julia, is behind bars charged with three counts of first-degree murder. He has denied any involvement in the crimes.
Hudson has been in seclusion since the horrific loss of her family members, though she did make a public statement last week after being nominated for four Grammy awards.
