Madeline, played by Hatty Jones, is a precious little read headed girl that is sure to win over your heart. In her movie, “Madeline”, she stars as a mischievous orphan in an all girls’ prep/boarding school.
Madeline is the smallest of the girls. While her size is little her ideas are big. She keeps her teacher, Miss Clavel, on her toes.
As the twelve girls go out they wear matching outfits, coats, and hats. They walk in twos in two straight lines. On one of these outings, Madeline climbs up on the bridge and falls into the river. Miss Clavel is devastated. Lucky for Madeline, a stray dog saves her.
Later Madeline finds this dog and hides it at the school.
On another occasion, Miss Clavel is awakened in the night with the girls upset. Madeline is sick and needs to go to the hospital. She has her appendices out. While in the hospital she talks to Lady Covington, the owner of the school.
Another adventure of Madeline’s occurs when the Spanish ambassador moves next door. His rowdy son tries to give Madeline a run for her money. However she is tough even to take on his challenge.
After later Lady Covington dies and her husband Lord Covington takes over, Madeline is faced with her biggest obstacle yet. Lord Covington wants to sell the house and do away with the school. Madeline is an orphan and would have nowhere else to go. She stages events to occur while home seekers come to view the house.
Miss Clavel has grown a strong attachment to Madeline and cannot stand the thoughts of what would happen to her.
In the end all works out.
This is a precious movie. It is live action and rated PG. Although full spirited, the little girl Madeline can win the heart of any viewer.
