Not likely, according to the countless media “experts,” who have been watching the split between the Material Girl and her husband Guy Ritchie unfold.
For months rumors have been swirling that Madonna and Ritchie were headed for splitsville and now several TV and newspaper reports claim the pop star is seeking advice from Paul McCartney’s divorce attorney (this after initial talks with a rival law firm broke down).
The singer reportedly met with Fiona Shackleton, the lawyer who represented McCartney during his court battle with Heather Mills and Prince Charles during his split from Princess Diana.
Meanwhile, Ritchie has reportedly signed on to be represented by Mayfair law firm Forsters, in a divorce that has yet to be confirmed by either warring party.
Despite the “no comment” reports from the respective camps, one New York paper is already calling the split between Madonna and Ritchie and “one of the most expensive divorces in history.”
The paper says that the couple didn’t sign a prenup prior to getting hitched and that legendary one-named pop queen is worth in excess of $100 million.
Oh how life would be so much easier for both Madonna and Ritchie if they simply took their cue from Bill Murray and his now ex-wife Jennifer Butler Murray.
According to reports, less than a month after Jennifer filed for divorce and shocked the world with allegations that Murray abused drugs, abused her, and cheated on her, the couple quietly and swiftly worked out an agreement to end their marriage.
According to court documents, Butler Murray was given primary custody of the couple’s four children and will keep one of the family’s homes in California and another in South Carolina. Meanwhile, the actor must pay child support but will keep properties in California, New York and Massachusetts.
Unlike Madonna and Ritchie, the Murrays reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement which stated that Bill would pay his wife $7 million in a divorce, and, according to court documents, that is what he will be mandated to do now.
Somehow I don’t think Madonna’s divorce with Ritchie will go as smoothly as Murray’s, especially without a prenup in place.
