Mystery solved.
If you watch ABC during primetime you might have seen the commercials for the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
The new cast will not be revealed until August 25th, but the ads promise that the new celebrity hoofers will include a detective, a model, and a super star chef.
The model could be any pretty face (who will likely be cut by week three) and some publications have already named Rachael Ray as the “super star chef” (though, I’d rather see Food Network’s Bobby Flay out there). As for the detective—-well, you didn’t need to pull out your Sherlock Holmes cape to figure that one out.
Sources close to former “Magnum, P.I.” star Tom Selleck recently spilled the beans regarding the actor’s role on the hit ABC dance-off. Selleck’s pals say he is set to show off his fancy footwork next month.
The 63-year-old was reportedly talked into shimming and shaking in front of millions by former “Three Men and a Baby” co-star Steve Guttenberg, who strutted his stuff during the last season of the reality show.
According to the National Enquirer, “Executives wanted an older hunk to bring in the baby boomer audience. Tom is incredibly popular with women 40 through 65, and producers were ecstatic when, at Steve’s urging, he expressed interest in competing on the show.”
Selleck is expected to join other celebrity contestants including singer Toni Braxton and former ‘N Sync star Lance Bass.
The new season of the dance competition will premiere on September 22.
Meanwhile, Hollywood hunks Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are also making headlines this week.
The pair has reportedly signed up to star in a fifth “Lethal Weapon” movie.
It’s been 10 years since the duo starred together in the last release of the action franchise. During that time director Richard Donner, who oversaw all four of the previous films, is said to have collaborated with “masterful” screenwriters to put together a “fabulous” script, which won over Gibson. (Last year Donner told reporters that he was ready to make another movie, but would only do so if Gibson agreed to be a part of it.)
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Star, “Lethal Weapon 5 is a go. They are just working out the details before shooting begins.”
