As LDS people it is important to focus on personal worthiness daily. These habits and choices can make it much easier to have the Holy Ghost as a constant companion. It can make it easier to face life’s many trials and to hold your family together during difficult times. Personal worthiness can also be looked at, as making sure that your personal testimony remains strong.
One of the most important things you can do to keep your testimony strong is to continue to build your relationship with your Savior and Heavenly Father on a daily basis. This means taking time to study and search the scriptures every single day. If you feel that your scripture study has become unfocused or hurried you may want to evaluate the time that you have for it and find a different time or method of studying the scriptures so that you can continue to progress.
Personal prayer is another essential part of maintaining your testimony and your worthiness. It is important to stay alert during these prayers and to take time to kneel each morning and evening to pray. While it is also important to have a prayer in your heart through out the day, and to pray as you meet specific challenges, setting aside that specific time to communicate honestly with Heavenly Father will allow your prayers to become more personal. It will also open up your heart to receive revelation and to check in to make sure that your priorities are in line with the Lord’s.
Attending the temple regularly is another way to help you stay on track. The temple is great place to receive inspiration. It is also a wonderful way to offer service to others. The temple can place your life in many ways through both the covenants that you make there and the spirit you can feel as you strive to do the right thing.
These are just the basic things you can do to build and maintain your personal worthiness, but it is also important to take the time to make sure that your activities are not detracting from that worthiness. Take time to look at the books that you are reading, the music you are listening to as well as the television or movies you are watching. Additionally make sure that the time you spend on these activities and on the Internet do not detract from the balance and priorities that you hold most important. Looking at what you can do and what you should not do will help you maintain a high standard of personal worthiness.
