The calendar may indicate that we’ve only reached summer’s mid-point, but with September in sight savvy cruisers know this is the time of year when prices for sailings to the 49th State begin dropping like lead balloons.
If you don’t mind traveling in cooler temps then you shouldn’t wait to book one of the following outstanding deals. The late-August/early-September excursions will give you incredible access to spectacular fall colors and abundant wildlife sightings for less than it would cost you to fly from Boston to Chicago.
Take a look:
CELEBRITY CRUISE LINES
This weeklong odyssey departs from Alaska’s Seward and makes stops at Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, and Ketchikan before taking the Inside Passage to Vancouver, British Columbia. If you book the September 12th trip, you’ll pay just $509 for an inside cabin—a savings of $340. Even oceanview cabins are affordable, at just $699.
HOLLAND AMERICA
Holland America’s seven-night Glacier Discovery cruise sails August 31st from Vancouver and makes stops in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. You’ll also cruise Glacier Bay, College Fjord, and enjoy an entire day at sea before arriving in Seward. Interior rooms normally priced at a whopping $1,619 are going for $549, which means you are saving more than half off rack rates.
NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE
Right now Norwegian Cruise Line is offering two September sailings with savings of up to 44%. Both depart from Seattle and navigate the Inside Passage before heading to Ketchikan. Other stops include Juneau, Skagway, and the Sawyer Glacier. In addition, there’s one more port of call in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, plus an entire day at sea. Inside cabins on both voyages—-departing on September 6 and September 13 respectively–are just $669, marked down from a hefty $1,199. The catch: you must book before August 1, 2008 to be guaranteed the reduced rate.
