You and your kids can make these cute rainbow mobiles for their bedrooms or playrooms or any room. They are simple, cute, and fun.
You can screw a mug hook into the ceiling to hang up rainbow mobiles, or simply hang them from doorknobs to decorate doorknobs.
Items Needed:
- Craft foam
- Craft paint
- Tissue paper
- Cotton balls (optional)
- Markers
- Scissors
- Glue
- Yarn or string
- Raffia or ribbon
- Beads
- Hole punch
Instructions:
On the craft foam, draw a rainbow shape with round sections at each end. Cut out your drawing. Draw lines with marker to separate colors for the rainbow. You can fill in the lines to make it look like a rainbow by using craft paint, or gluing on fabric, ribbon, or different colors of craft foam.
Take the tissue paper and bunch it up. Glue balls of tissue paper onto the round sections at each end of the rainbow to form clouds. You can use cotton balls instead of tissue paper if desired. Use the hole punch to make a hole in the top center of the rainbow. String a few strands of raffia or ribbon through the hole and tie into bows.
If you are using this craft as a mobile instead of a doorknob hanger, you will want to repeat the steps above, and decorate both sides of the rainbow.
Then, string one smaller piece through the hole at the top, make a loop, and tie a knot. You will use the loop to hang up the mobile.
Next, add a few random holes along the bottom edge of the rainbow. Push through different lengths of string and knot one end to secure it. At the other end, add a bead. Clear or light blue beads are preferable, as they are supposed to look like raindrops.
Hang it up and enjoy!
