Remember my article yesterday on scraplifting? If you are a novice scrapbooker, trust me when I say, everybody does it! If you feel guilty copying tit for tat, don’t! But, if you do, then here are a few ways you can change it up a little, but still get that same type of look.
1. Use different papers. So many of us shop the same places and have the same papers that it is so easy to copy exactly what someone else has done. However, there are enough papers out there where we can pick another paper that is similar in pattern, but different enough to give the page our own look.
2. Use a different color palette. If the original scrapbooker chose orange, yellows, and greens, try scrapping with blues, reds and purples…or whatever! The layout of the page will look the same, but the different colors will make it your own.
3. Think of one new, original thing to add to the page. Whether it be an embellishment, or ribbon, or maybe you can turn it 90 degrees so it is just slightly different, any little changes will help it feel more like your own. You can even journal in a slightly different way to make it more creative like around the edges of the picture instead of on a journaling tag.
4. Doodle your heart out! I love to doodle on a page, and what can be more your own than doodling your own artwork?
This past week, I entered a challenge on scrapbook.com to scrapbook one of my favorites I had stored away for future use. I picked one that I loved! I tried to switch it up a little, by changing the colors, and changing the way I doodled around the page, and I just loved how it turned out. The page still had the same feel, but it was definitely my own. And of course, I gave credit where credit is due! Have fun scraplifting!
