Make Affordable Wedding Favors

Wedding favors can get expensive, especially if you plan to have many guests at your wedding. Making your own favors can help you save a lot of money. These simple, inexpensive ideas will help you create attractive wedding favors and still keep your budget on track.

Votive Candleholder Wedding Favors

A votive candle in a pretty holder also makes a nice wedding favor. You should be able to purchase both for a total of less than $1.00. Shop around for attractive votive holders, which you can often find on clearance. If you cannot find enough of one style, purchase two or three different styles (close to the same size if possible) and just alternate them as you place them. Look for boxes of votive candles instead of purchasing them individually for even greater savings. Scented candles are especially nice, but you should choose all the same scent, or two different scents at most, and make sure they complement each other. Votive holders also make pretty containers for candies if you prefer not to give candles.

Lace or Tulle Wedding Favors

This is a popular option because it’s simple and inexpensive. You can make small, sachet style favors from lace or tulle and a bit of ribbon. Simply purchase lace or sparkly tulle by the yard and cut it into 8″ x 8″ squares. Place candy, nuts, or mints in the center, pull the ends of the fabric up and together, twist, and tie with ribbon. Trim edges if necessary. Purchase ribbon in rolls rather than by the yard for added savings. You can find a large selection of rolls of satin ribbon in fabric shops or the craft section of your favorite store.

Additional Savings

Remember, most things that say wedding or bridal, are generally priced higher, as our treats found in party stores. Instead, purchase candy from a bulk candy store or look for great deals online.
