Make Splash and Burn Some Calories

During the cold months many kids spend time in front of TV watching episodes of Phineas and Ferb or playing video games trying desperately to make it to the next level to unlock the planet Zorg. As they lose track of how many hours they spend in front of a screen they also lose track of how many calories they consume while munching on cheese puffs and potato chips while sitting on bean bags. All that sitting plus all those cheese puffs and potato chips equals extra winter pounds. A growing child should grow vertically not horizontally. If you have found your little chipmunk looks like he stored too much over the winter than it is time to get him and the whole family out and playing.

As summer knocks on our door with the promise of sun and hot days it should be easier to get kids motivated to get out and play. However, if it gets too hot your child may return back to sitting on a bean bag in front of TV or playing a video game munching on cheese puffs and sipping on iced tea. Cut that off at the pass and get him out for a day of calorie burning fun in the pool. Make this a family affair, a party and challenge each other to a little pool football or water Frisbee. Splash Bomb has an 8 piece party pack perfect for hot days in the pool playing and burning off the video game pounds. With sponge balls, toss and catch game, a football, and Frisbee you will have to force your child from the pool to finally sit down.

Every summer I go out and purchase new outdoor play toys to direct the kids outside. We spend our days and evenings playing with our Splash Bomb set and burning off all the calories from sitting down most of the winter. You need to encourage your child to get out there and play. The more fun it is the easier it will be to start a healthy lifestyle which includes daily exercise.
