Do you make your bed every day? When I was little my mom taught me to make my bed every day. Mom told stressed upon me how made beds are much nicer to get into at night. She was right there. Mom told me that your room could be a little bit messy and still look nice and put together if your bed was made. The funny thing about that was that Mom’s room was never messy. The house was never messy either. You could be sick in bed and Mom would make the bed around you.
I am horrible about making the bed. It’s not a new failing of mine either. I never really cared what my bed looked like or if I got into a nicely made bed at night. I have gone through periods when I made the bed consistently; I’m pretty sporadic about it now.
I used to excuse myself from making the bed. I got up first. Chris was still sleeping when I got up in the morning. I wasn’t about to wake up my hard-working husband by making my side of the bed as soon as I’d gotten out of it. I left the bed making responsibility to Chris since he was the last one out of it. I really should have been the good wife and made the bed after he got up. Boy was I lazy.
I am good about making the bed for a while after I change the sheets. But then laziness and apathy take over and I’m back to not making the bed. When the bed is made, the room does look nicer.
I am in a period of bed making. The cleaning lady was here and she made the bed so I’m keeping up with her. We’ll see how long it lasts.
