Making this gourmet treat is easier than you might think. You can make a real impression with these delicate little chocolate cups that are well worth the very little bit of effort they require.
They will look really lovely on your table or given as gifts. A small white paper cup that accommodates four to six filled chocolate cups makes a very elegant present. The cups look expensive but actually cost very little to make.
Once you have your chocolate cups, you can add all sorts of fillings to them, from fruit or whipped creme. Or, turn them into yummy homemade peanut butter cups by piping peanut butter using an icing bag and either sealing them with melted chocolate or simply adding some chopped peanuts as a garnish.
You can also adapt these chocolate cups to different holidays, such as placing jelly beans in them for Easter or filling with white chocolate and garnishing with crushed candy canes for Christmas. The chocolate cups are very adaptable.
You’ll need small baking cups and bittersweet chocolate.
To start, melt bittersweet chocolate in a double burner, being careful not to overheat the chocolate.
Line the baking cups on a cookie sheet.
Next, use a small food safe brush to paint chocolate on the inside of the cups, coating the bottom and sides but being careful not to paint over the edges of the baking cups.
Refrigerate the cups until the chocolate is set. This will take only about 10 minutes.
When the chocolate is set, you will need to repeat the process with another layer of brushed on chocolate and refrigerate again. Make sure that the chocolate is firm, peel off the paper.
You can then fill the cups with your favorite filling and garnish. Package the cups loosely and keep at room temperature until you are ready to serve or gift them.
