Making Homemade Baby Wipes

Having a baby is such a joyous time, not only for the proud parents, but also for all of the friends and family that wish to welcome the baby into the world. A baby shower is the perfect way for everybody to gather and give best wishes and shower the mother-to-be with wonderful gifts for her baby. Many of the most helpful and handy gifts are those such as diapers and wipes, the things that get used most often when baby comes home.

However, many parents find that buying these items can get pretty pricey after a while. It would be nice if there were some decent ways to cut corners without compromising the quality of the items you need.

Luckily, there is a great recipe that you can use to make baby wipes right at home for just a fraction of the cost that you would pay in the stores. All you need are just a few items that you may already have in the house, take about ten minutes of your time, and you have yourself some great smelling and durable baby wipes that you made for your precious little one!

First, you are going to want to get yourself a good, 3-quart size, airtight container. Most moms like to use the Rubbermaid 3-quart because they stay closed really well yet are not too hard to open with one hand. Now all you need is a roll of Scott paper towels, water, baby bath and baby oil. When it comes to the paper towels it is always best to use plain white instead of printed. Cut the towels in half, lengthwise, like you are making two small rolls. You can use a large serrated knife, or a small saw, whichever is handy. Be sure not to cut yourself!

The measurements for the mixture is as follows:
2 cups of hot water
2 tablespoons of baby bath
2 tablespoons of baby oil

Mix all of the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl. Then, take one half of the paper towels and set them with the cut-side down into your 3-quart container.

You can save the other half for your next batch of wipes. Take the warm mixture and pour it evenly over the roll. Place the cover on and wait for about ten minutes. When the ten minutes are up, pull the cardboard roll out of the center and you have yourself fresh, clean homemade baby wipes!

For a gentle addition to baby’s skin, you can use aloe vera oil in place of the baby oil.
