Making Money with Your Website (1)

Did you know that you can actually make money with your website or blog? Thousands of people already do this, making enough money to “quit their day jobs” and support themselves with income earned directly on their website. How do they do it? Read on to find out some of the avenues for making money on the web.

Many people make money from their website or blog through advertising revenue. Advertisers will pay you for your valuable website space. All you need to do to collect this money is to sign up with an ad service, such as Google’s AdSense and attract visitors to your website. Visitors view and click on ads, and the ad service pays you for the advertising and the traffic that you receive. You are essentially renting out space, and you are paid for how many people “walk through” and examine that space. Depending on the program, you may be paid when someone views and ad or when someone clicks on an ad. In text links and links that were brought in through search engines tend to earn more money than do banner ads that just sit on your page.

You make only as much as you can bring in with your website. There are several strategies to increase your traffic and make the most of this money making opportunity. We can discuss some of those ways in an upcoming article here in the Computing Blog.

Affiliate programs are another way to make money with your website. Like ad services, the income is derived by how many people visit and click through on a link. Have you ever been to a website for a book review that had a link to that same book on Amazon.com? Were you to buy that book through the link, the website owner would be paid a portion of the sale because the website essentially brought you in to Amazon and induced you to purchase. Sometimes people also refer to ad services as affiliate programs.

Selling your own banner space is a very lucrative method. You sell this pace directly to advertisers, eliminating the middle man and increasing your profits. You will have to manage the sales process and payments yourself, and your website needs to be well established to attract potential advertisers.

There are even more ways to make money with your website. Check back soon!
