Marriage in the News: The Alien Marriage Proposal?

The AP reported a story a few hours ago about a series of calls that brought the Bavarian police out to investigate unidentified flying objects. Apparently late into Wednesday evening, local German time, there were unusual lights drifting across the sky of Plattling. Several worried people made phone calls to the local police department because they were so unusual. A patrol was sent to investigate and what did they find?

A UFO?

Nope.

Aircraft of some kind?

Nope.

The police report issued on Thursday stated that the patrol encountered a 29 year old man and his 27 year old girlfriend. He’d just proposed to her and used 50 paper lanterns to create a romantic effect. (Awww!) The unusual lights seen in Plattling were from all the lanterns that he’d released upwards as part of the proposal.

Oh and for those of you curious, she said yes. The couple plans to marry in the Fall or early next Spring.

So congratulations to the unnamed couple, I think you’ve got a story to tell your grandchildren as you begin planning the rest of your lives together.

Can You Imagine?

Creative marriage proposals are so wonderful to hear about. In fact that’s one of the selling points of most romantic comedies. But imagine going to all that trouble to create this romantic proposal, only to have the police show up investigating possible UFO’s? I don’t know whether I’d laugh or be offended or caught somewhere in the middle.
What’s the most creative marriage proposal you’ve heard of?
