Fitness The Week in Review – September 30 – October 6

Welcome to our first Week in Review for October and a review of the topics we covered this week. I like to go over what we covered in one fell swoop so that you can catch up one some of the articles you may have missed this week. So without further ado, here we go with our Fitness Blog week in review:

Saturday, September 30th

We took a day off to spend with the family and just focused on our Week in Review today. It’s important to remember that weekends are a good time to reconnect with family especially when you’ve been running all week and taking care of responsibilities.

Sunday, October 1st

Welcome to Sunday, and the first article of October with Exercise Hater’s Unite and how there are plenty of reasons why people hate exercise and what you can do to overcome the boredom and the monotony. In October is Walk to School Month we discussed the fact that October 4th is International Walk to School Day and why many school districts are celebrating this month and day.

Monday, October 2nd

As part of my anniversary, I took a Mental Health Day which I discussed on Tuesday. Mental Health Days are important to everyone because we all need some downtime mentally.

Tuesday, October 3rd

For Tuesday, we talked about 7 Ways to Break out of a Rut because exercise goes in cycles and every 12 weeks or so, you need to shake up your regimen to get you back into the swing of things. We also discussed the need for a Mental Health Day and how it stimulates you mentally and physically.

Wednesday, October 4th

Autumn Challenges – Changing Up Your Routine continued the thoughts started in Tuesday’s 7 Ways to Break out of a Rut. The change in seasons is a great time to change your workout whether you take it indoors or outdoors. Today is also Walk to School Day and there was a tremendous turnout at my daughter’s school for kids who were walking to school.

Thursday, October 5th

When you are Bike Shopping – What Do You Look for in a Bike discussed the different types of outdoor bikes available for you to check out when you are bike shopping. There are Comfort, Sports, and Racing and Mountain bikes. In Kid Fitness: Beware the Backlash we discussed the potential backlash that can happen if we don’t teach our kids moderation and only teach them about what is bad, bad, bad.

Friday, October 6th

In Breast Cancer Awareness – Exercise Increases Survival Rate we continued our series of articles honoring Breast Cancer Awareness month and discussed that lifestyle and exercise can factor into survival rates for breast cancer patients. Finally, we targeted the funny bone and discussed Friday Fitness Funnies – You Could Be a Personal Trainer if … with a list of things that might describe a personal trainer that are very tongue in cheek.
