One of the things that I wish I had done when I was pregnant was a maternity photo shoot. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I did not feel very attractive or photogenic with the huge belly and all of those pregnancy hormones circulating in my body. Now I feel a twinge of regret every time I see pictures of pregnant women. Despite how I felt at the time, my pregnancies were a beautiful part of my life and I wish I had a few nice pictures to remember them by.
If you are thinking about doing a maternity photo shoot, here are a few ideas. One fun thing to do is to have someone take a picture of you each week. In the pictures, you can hold a hand made sign that indicates which week of the pregnancy is pictured there. Other fun photo props include foods that you are currently craving, clothes or shoes that you have bought for baby, and stuffed animals.
Outdoor settings provide a beautiful backdrop for maternity photos. Try leaning against a tree in various photos, sitting or standing on a rock, or posing in a field or garden for some variety. If there is a solid colored wall, you may be able to pose so that someone can take some pictures of your pregnant shadow.
Maternity photos can be fun, creative, elegant, or anything else that you want them to be. You can have a friend or relative take them or you can enlist the help of a professional. Think about your photo shoot ahead of time and write down some ideas. Pinterest is a great place to go to look for ideas, there are some gorgeous photo shoots on there. Above all, enjoy your maternity photo shoot. After all, this is the only time that you will be pregnant with this particular child.
