McDonald’s Fruit and Yogurt Parfait

My niece had told me to try it more than once. She would often remark on how delicious it was. I am not the biggest yogurt fan. I thought to myself, “How delicious can yogurt be?” About a month ago I realized that they were only 160 calories with the granola. I was not so sure that I liked the idea of granola, but “what the heck”, I said. Being short on money these days (who isn’t?) I then learned that they only cost $1. So they were healthy, they were cheap, they supposedly were delicious and they were low in calories. I definitely needed to check it out. One bite and I was a believer. I am now hooked on these things, but so what! The granola, much to my surprise, was delicious. The fruit was delicious. The yogurt was even delicious. I paid $1.08 and felt like I had just walked away with a pot of gold. The other good part is that it is a healthy snack or even good for breakfast or lunch. It was filling enough that it was adequate to squelch my hunger pangs.

The McDonald’s fruit and yogurt parfait contains 160 with the granola, 130 calories without the granola. It is low in fat and cholesterol. It also contains vitamin C, calcium and iron.

To make your own yogurt and fruit parfait you will need the following ingredients:
3 ounces of vanilla yogurt
3 strawberries
6 blueberries

You simply slice up the fruit and layer these ingredients. You can also add different ingredients. You might want to try bananas, cranberries, raspberries, kiwi, peaches or pineapples. Once you have your ingredients layered you can sprinkle 2 tablespoons of granola on top.

This is one parfait that you will never have to feel guilty about eating. I stop to get myself one of these about 3 to 4 times a week for either breakfast or lunch. I have also made them at home. It makes me feel good to know that I have done something good for my body.
