We were one week before Christmas and we were getting a new baby today. We just found out about her yesterday and we spent all night washing clothes setting up a baby room. We don’t even know this little girls name all we know is that she is three weeks old. I did not ask about her ethnicity all I knew was that her two brothers were going to our sons some day and that they need to be together.
A few hours after we brought the boys to daycare the doorbell rang and in came a young blond case worker holding a beautiful baby girl, a can of formula, one outfit and some pictures of her that her foster mom had taken. She hands me this little six pound little girl and has us sign all the paperwork that comes with her. Within an hour of her arrival all the paperwork was done and the case worker was gone. My husband and I knew nothing really about newborns so we called our pediatrician and asked if we could come and so he could check her out.
Everything was great she was healthy except a case of thrush in her mouth. The doctor gave us a prescription for her and the nurse gave us her number to call anytime if we had any questions. We go home and just sat there holding this little girl I had been around babies before but my husband really had not so I think he was more nervous than I was. He held her like he was going to break her if he moved. It was kind of funny to watch. My husband went and picked the boys up at daycare and brought them home to meet their new sister. The boys were so sweet and kept rubbing her head and kissing her. They both wanted to hold her and feed her and just sat there looking at her all day.
She was so tiny and we only knew her for a few hours so far but she was already our daughter in our hearts.
