I always enjoyed watching Will & Grace and was sad to see it end this year. I loved how Megan Mullally’s character Karen grew over the years. Oh sure, I know her character was crass and rude, but then so was one of my other all time favorite television characters – Archie Bunker. It seemed that no matter what Karen did or said, people still loved her because deep down, she did care about her friends.
Megan won two Emmys playing Karen Walker (her last was won just last week), but now she is embarking on a new career – that of television talk show host. You may have heard the hype about “The Megan Mullally Show” before Will & Grace ended, but if you have forgotten about it – it starts tomorrow. I have set the DVR just in case I forget myself.
Whom can we expect to see on Megan’s show? Will Ferrell has already been booked and so has former co-star Debra Messing – she will appear on the September 26th show. But, it will also feature normal people such as the 2006 Hollerin’ Champion. Does it sound like a familiar format? It should, as it is very similar to the format used by the King of Late Night – Johnny Carson.
I didn’t remember it, but Megan filled in for David Letterman back in 2003 when he was ill, so she already has a bit of an idea what she is getting herself into. I am hoping it is a good show, but I suppose that will depend on what the real Megan is like. She admits that people often call her Karen because she is so closely associated with the character she played for eight years.
