Yesterday I posted about Melaleuca and their teams.
Today I want to talk about why they have so much buzz. One reason is there are a ton of ads for all the different teams, and you have no idea what they do by reading the ad. The only way to get more info is to fill out a request form.
Another reason is their marketing technique.
I know two people who are very successful with the business. They are wonderful people who love the products. I respect both of them. They work hard. They also market their business locally.
However, I have seen more people fail. Here is where I see these “teams” going wrong:
–Most of the ones online focus on recruiting online. Well, online is oversaturated and not an easy place to recruit.
–Buying ads online can add up. Often newcomers spend more money buying ads and go broke. Realize, it takes someone 3 to 10 times to see a message before they bite. So they may see your ad, and respond to the next person.
–Spamming. Some teams encourage “posting all over the internet.” Ummm, this is spamming. Because of the “advertising” posts on message boards, potential team members get turned off or annoyed.
–Soliciting semi-friends and family. I have been asked to join, multiple times and it is often by people who call me totally out of the blue. I have to admit, I’m totally turned off by this approach. They have no desire to talk to me, they just want me to join their team. If I do decide to join, I will join under one of the people I respect and trust.
Now I will admit one reason I have never joined stems from their marketing ploys from 5 years ago. They used to go around spamming “You are poisoning your kids!” Sorry but this just turned me off. Plus, I didn’t like having to try and figure out what they did or who they were.
In their defense, Melaleuca will not let them use their name for advertising.
So, if you are looking at Melaleuca, here is my advice:
–Review the products they offer and make sure you can spend that much each month.
–Ask if you can try some samples to make sure you like it. That way if you don’t make money, it’s not a big deal.
–Find out how many successful team members your recruiter has. If she is new, ask her about her upline and training.
–Ask them how to find leads. If they say, oh, you can find them online, find a different mentor.
Best of luck!
