There are several different ways to incorporate greeting cards into your layouts and albums and still be able to protect and read them.
The easiest and fastest way is to create a pocket page and slip them all inside. If you are using top loading page protectors (which I highly recommend), it’s easy to pull the cards out while flipping through the album and read them.
Pocket Page
You will need:
- two sheets of paper or cardstock
- personal trimmer
- adhesive
- pen or marker
- page protector
To create a pocket page, you will need two coordinating pieces of paper or cardstock that are the same size. I recommend using cardstock for the background to make the page more durable and sturdy.
Set aside your background piece. Take your second piece, using your personal trimmer and cut it in half width wise. Take one half of the cut out and set it aside for a future pocket page or to use to embellish the page further after it is complete.
Take the other half and turn it backwards. Apply adhesive to the bottom of the paper and both the right and left side of the paper.
Flip it over and glue it down on the cardstock.
You will need to wait until this is dry.
Once dry, using a pen or marker, title your page or simply jot down what the contents of this pocket page are – (i.e. Samantha’s 8th Birthday)
Slip your cards or other memorabilia inside and slip the completed page into a page protector. You now have a safe place to store your cards.
On Your Layout
You will need:
- Greeting Card
- Page Protector
- Adhesive
- Exacto Knife
- Embellishments (optional)
To incorporate your greeting card into your layout, you can either cut a slit into your page protector or attach the greeting card to the outside of the page protector. This is your choice.
If you are simply wanting to attach it to the outside of your page protector, use photo tape and place it on the page protector where you want it.
In order to keep it inside the page protector, simply create the layout as you wish, adding the card so that it opens on the layout. (only apply adhesive to the back of the card).
Place your layout flat on a table and take the page protector and just set it on top of the layout. Using the corner of the card as a guide, and using your exacto knife cut a slit into the page protector exactly where the corner of the card is located on the layout.
When that’s done, slip the layout into the page protector, working the front of the card through the slit in the page protector. See example.
There are many ways to incorporate Memorabilia and Greeting Cards into a layout. Be creative and you just might find a new way.
