Memorial Day weekend—-the unofficial kick off to the summer season—-is just a few weeks away. Do you know where you will be spending the holiday? If you are strapped for cash you might be considering a trip to your backyard, but you don’t have to. Some airlines are lowering their sky-high fares to encourage families who have put the brakes on summer vacation plans to take off with them.
Take a look:
$29-$37 One-Way
Southwest Airlines and United Airlines both unveiled rock-bottom one-way fares this week. Southwest is offering one-way intrastate jaunts (e.g. Tampa to Jacksonville) from $29. Likewise, United Airlines is offering discounts to places such as Spokane and Boise for just $37 each way. The low fares are applicable for travel to and from more than 20 cities in 10 states, and can be booked for travel through October 30. However, take note: A 21-day advance purchase is required.
$56 One-Way
One-way is better than no way. If you are looking to get away on a budget this holiday weekend check out the fares being offered by AirTran. It just announced a major airfare sale, slashing prices on travel to dozens of U.S. cities to as low as $56 one-way. The catch: In order to get the bargain fare you must book through Expedia.com. Some of the cities featured in the sale include San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Miami, and many other top U.S. destinations. You can book your seat now and travel must be complete by November 5th.
$173 Round-Trip
If you have been dreaming of a beach getaway, but didn’t think you could afford to take the entire family you are in luck, courtesy of Expedia.com. The travel site is offering you the chance to bask in the warm Florida sun for just $173 round-trip. The price includes airfare from cities such as Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles to Tampa, Fort Lauderdale or Ft. Myers.
